Polio Eradication
Rotary International has been the global leader in the effort in the worldwide eradication of Polio. Polio, while no-longer an epidemic in the United States, still cripples thousands of innocent children every year.
20 year fight to completely eradicate polio is nearly won. While only 4 countries remain Polio endemic, one of these countries is India and has immense immunization needs to prevent the hundreds of thousands of newborns there from being infected with the cruel, crippling and maiming disease.
In June each year, our club annually hosts the "Race to the Finish" which has rasied nearly $500,000 for Polio eradication. For more information on this 5K Run and 5K Walk in Evanston see the race website - www.racetothefinish.org
